Section C
No person who confines or who is the custodian or caretaker of a companion animal shall negligently
    do any of the following:

  1. Torture, torment, needlessly mutilate or maim, cruelly beat, poison, needlessly kill, or commit an act of cruelty against the companion animal.

All dogs/puppies over the age of three months must have a license in Mahoning County.

Stray Animals

When you find a stray dog, you should contact the Mahoning County Dog Pound at (330) 740-2205. They are the ONLY agency permitted to take in stray dogs.

As there are no laws or ordinances with regard to ownership of cats/kittens, they are considered STRAY if they are outdoors.

As we are not a shelter, Animal Charity DOES NOT take in stray cats/kittens. If you find a stray cat/kitten you need to contact a shelter that will take them in.

Other Problems in Mahoning County Include:

bulletAnimal hoarding (collecting)
bulletDog fighting
bulletCock fighting
